What's your background- career, where you grew up, school?
I grew up in New York, never dreaming that I’d end up with a career in health and wellness. I come from a typical American family, and we grew up eating a standard American Diet, with really no interest in nutrition. But, as I got older, I developed acne, was always sick, and was overweight. I originally studied finance in college, at Fordham University, but was introduced to the concept of “food as medicine” by a classmate. I went down the nutrition rabbithole, and soon researching food and nutrition became my passion. After graduating with a degree in business, and getting a finance job, my passion for health didn’t subside. I eventually ended up continuing to study natural cooking at Natural Gourmet Institute and Integrative Nutrition health coaching. Soon, I decided to make the leap from finance to health coaching, and the rest is history!
What's your biggest success so far? Publishing a book, The Real Food Grocery Guide.
What's your favorite thing about being a Lady Project member?
Being connected with so many interesting and inspiring women.
What is the biggest challenge in your industry?
Getting people excited about prevention of chronic illness and disease, rather than just reversal.
What advice would you give to a business owner starting out in your industry that you wish you would have known going in?
Don’t forget about social media - in this day and age, it is crucially important for just about any business! Pick a social channel you think your audience is on, and consistently post valuable content!
