PVD Lady Project: Home Buying Happy Hour

LPStamp-PVD.png

Join PVD Lady Project, Jess, Deb and Kristin for a Home Buying Happy Hour!

It was so successful in the Spring, we're bringing it back for the Fall!

We can help you get $7500 for a downpayment or closing cost assistance to buy your first home!

No--this isn’t an infomercial and it’s not too good to be true. If you’re a first time buyer and you’re considering buying a house you need to know about the first time buyer benefits that Rhode Island Housing recently launched in several Rhode Island communities.

Hosted by PVD Lady Project members who are industry professionals, this seminar will be your opportunity to learn about the homebuying process and the financing options that you can take advantage of as a first time buyer. Hosted by Realtors Jess Powers & Kristin Matthews of Coastal Properties Group, a power duo that specializes in working with first time buyers, and Mortgage Loan Officer Deb Saccoccio of Residential Mortgage Services, Inc. (RMS), this seminar will focus on better understanding the often confusing financing side of home buying process.

This event will be hosted at the West Side of Providence home of Jess Powers. Wine & lite fare will be provided and there will be plenty of time for Q&A’s. Regardless of what stage you are at in the home buying process, we feel confident that we can provide you with helpful information. It is never too early to start learning about and preparing for one of the most important decisions in your life.

Lady Project Online: 7 Strategies to Generate Viral Publicity (in Half the Time)

Calling all makers, authors, girl bosses, CEOs, creatives, side hustlers, & aspiring thought leaders...

Does your business need a breakthrough? Feel like this could be *your year*? Know that media could be a total game changer for your business? Something inside keeps asking, "If not now, when?"

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am an Award-Winning Visibility Strategist who lands my clients in the most coveted outlets in the country. (To the tune of Forbes, Fast Company, Inc, Business Insider, Entrepreneur Magazine...)

So whether you are just starting out or dreaming of becoming the next big thing, please join me for this live online Masterclass.

In this Masterclass, you will learn:

  • How to accelerate your business, message, and mission using press.

  • The behind-the-scenes formula for crafting headlines that stick (many of mine have gone viral).

  • How to save HOURS of time, and get breakthrough RESULTS.

  • How to rise above the noise (even when media gets 3000 pitch e-mails per week!)

  • How to stop doing the same 4 things (that even the pros get wrong) again and again.

  • Plus unreal bonuses and action steps you can begin to implement IMMEDIATELY.

The methods I use are tried and true. I have used them for service and product based businesses, start-ups, solopreneurs, people who have been featured a lot and people who have never been featured before.

These techniques WORK.

... Even if you have zero PR experience, no techie skills, and limited time, the strategies I share will help you to get your message out there and put your business front and center!

See you in the Masterclass!

August Member Host: Nellie Stokeld

SPOTLIGHT QUESTIONNAIRE

Signature Cocktail: La Croix all day.

Tea or Coffee? Coffee

I collect… houseplants

Favorite City? New York! That’s why I moved here! For travel, Hanoi, Vietnam & Tulum, Mexico

Style Icon? Annie Hall

Bloom of choice? Ranunculus! They’re like a peony & a rose in one!

Favorite Season? Fall . Scarves really do it for me.

I'm lusting after... a down jacket for my first New York winter

Most prized possession? My experience

Lady Crush? Issa Rae of the show Insecure. She’s hilarious and blends vulnerability & strength in a really interesting way.

On weekends, I…  read a lot and meet up with friends to eat!

What's your background- career, where you grew up, school? I grew up in northern California, where my dad (who is an English eccentric) and mom owned a pub where they would put on amateur dinner theater in which they acted (to my embarrassment). I learned about the life of entrepreneurs being 24/7 but also very joyful and I wanted to recreate that in my own career. I studied anthropology in college, lived in Brazil for a year, and settled in Oakland to work for a nonprofit that helped women start businesses. I worked days connecting women to resources and at night took the class we offered, wrote my own business plan and started doing pop ups at local restaurants selling English meat pies from my family’s recipe book. I did that for five years, made every mistake imaginable, learned an amazing amount and having a lot of fun. But New York was on my brain, it’s just the most fantastic city, so I came to the conclusion that rather than lay roots to make an empire out of meat pies, I would sell off all my possessions and move to New York.

What's your biggest success so far?

Being on a motorcycle tour of the Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam while my business was making me money in CA was pretty cool.

What's your favorite thing about being a Lady Project member?

Connection to a purpose I believe in. Women have innate abilities that are powerful and necessary in the world more than ever and we can do so much if we have connection to one another.

What is the biggest challenge in your industry?

Currently between industries! But I’m learning about starting a startup in the apparel industry and it’s an entirely new world. It’s exciting and daunting so I’m always looking to meet people who’ve done it before.

What advice would you give to a business owner starting out in your industry that you wish you would have known going in?

For the food industry….loving to bake or cook is a great start to wanting to own a business but there is so much more to it than just that part! Figure out how to do the aspects of the business you love and hire others who can do the rest for you. I spent too long trying to do everything and when I finally made hires that could take on other aspects of the business I had so much more mental space to think big picture!

Is your business involved with any community groups?

My startup apparel company is growing thanks to the Brooklyn public library system (books are everything!), classes at General Assembly, Maker’s Row online network, and obviously, NYC Lady Project. Always on the lookout for more.
