Lady Project Woman of Style // Chardline Chanel-Faiteau

The stylish ladies of Boston keep on giving...and I couldn't be happier. Chardline Chanel-Faiteau, known on social media under her blogger name PlusSizeBeausion, is no amateur blogger. When she walked into the room where Brittanny Taylor and I were sitting, pulling her carry-on by her side, I knew immediately that our mini-shoot was going to be fun. Her style is superb; her energy is contagious; her passion for plus-size fashion through the roof! With over 16,000 followers on Instagram, she is encouraging women everywhere to embrace their curves, and wear what their hearts desire while feeling their best. What's not to love about this woman of style!

What does style mean to you, in both your personal and professional life?

Style communicates long before speech, and my clothing always speaks my language. The journey to personal style and ultimate comfort is a pleasant roller coaster of self-discovery, trial and error, and experiments. I proudly display mine, and encourage more women of size to begin journeys of their own and most importantly, stay the course. I practice these principals as a blogger and as a public servant.

Do you have a signature style? If yes, what defines it?

Signature style? It's hilarious that you ask this because I really don't. I do make a point to mix textures as frequently as possible but nothing that says, "That's so Chardline!".  I've noticed some bloggers who have signatures looks or brands they frequent but I'm more of a "mood" blogger.

Where do you like to shop?

I am such an online shopper. I can't even think of the last time I went into a store. As a plus sized woman, going to the mall is dreadful so online stores have become a great resource for us. I love these following stores: Fashion to Figure, Forever 21, Torrid, Macy's, Asos, Eloquii, online thrift stores, Ashley Stewart...This list can definitely go on forever!

You have an outgoing presence and a wonderful energy! What advice would you give to someone who has difficulty overcoming their fear of shining bright and standing out?

Stare at yourself in the mirror. Really! Take time to make yourself smile. Through that process, you learn to discover the amazing light that you have within. It's a light so beautiful that you don't want to hide it. Once you realize how amazing you are, you start to wear it and others notice it. Before you know it, you've completed a process that takes people YEARS to start.

Has your work as a fashion blogger influenced your day job, or the way you dress?

My work as a fashion blogger has influenced my day job in terms of attracting people to my blog. When I wear my usual button up with slacks, no one seems to comment. But, when I wear clothing that promotes diversity of colors and styles, everyone wants to know where I got it from. That's when I pull out the blog card. As a public servant in 2016, the envelope has definitely opened for women to express themselves in the work place. For example, my current boss has purple hair!

You feel most creative when you're wearing...

When I am wearing mixed prints. Pulling off a mixed print combo feels like winning a Grammy. It can either go very good or very bad.

Who inspires you?

My biggest inspiration is myself. I've overcame so much but I remained true to who I am. With God by my side, my journey as always been an insight one.

Chardline Chanel-Faiteau is a blogger and style curator for plus-size fashion. Every single day, she is driven to be the best woman she can for herself, her community and her readers. She has always had an interest in government, law and politics, but fashion was optional. As a bigger woman, she was routinely excluded from the latest fashion trends, cheering on the sidelines and never a participant. She also felt disconnected from her own personal style because she lacked the access to fashionable clothing in her size. More restrictively, she lacked the confidence and the outlet to express her personality through clothes. Although she enjoys experimenting with various styles, playing with colors and pushing the occasional envelope, her heart skips for the women who are slowly discovering their flair for self-expression through fashion. Clothing choice not only represents a state of mind, but also richness of personality. To connect with Chardline, you may check out Plus Size Beausion on Facebook, PlusSizeBeausion on Instagram, PSBeausion on Twitter and Pinterest, Chardline Chanel-Faiteau on LinkedIn; and visit her website www.chardline.com.
